Meet the founder

Boyd Karren

Boyd founded OTRO Financial after a bank’s loan officer said no to his small business funding request, claiming his loan request was too small to be worth her time, and that she wouldn’t make enough commission on the deal to be worth her time. Boyd realized at that moment that he was not the only one frustrated by the lack of funding options for small business owners and determined he would help others find funding anwyay, even when banks have already said no.

He’s the author of four books about business funding, business credit and personal credit, including his signature book, When Banks Say No. He is a frequent presenter for SCORE chapters, Small Business Development Centers, chambers of commerce, and other groups promoting entrepreneurship training.

He also recently founded GoBizGirl Startup Academy, which combines classic entrepreneurial training, credit remediation, business credit training and direct access to funding options designed for startups. This 12-week training program is designed for single mothers who want to create new prosperity for themselves and their children.
